  • Manufacturer (MFR) Number 1691528

  • Engine Manufacturer Kohler
  • Engine Model M18S
  • Engine Serial Number --
  • Date Purchased 4/18/2020
  • Purchase Price $$ 600
  • Condition at Time of Purchase Purchased tractor from a private seller found on Facebook Marketplace. Engine runs good (M18S, I think, tag is not readable) no noticeable oil puff upon startup. Hour meter reads 2301 hours. I know no history about the engine. Hydrostatic drive seems strong, but unable to fully determine how well it works due to worn control linkage (end of rod on hydro is worn bad). It seems the seals on the hydro are weeping, but not leaking. I'll know more as the tractor sits in the garage. The tractor otherwise is in good shape mechanically. Cosmetically, it is rough in a few places likely from college kids banging into things, The tractor was used it to maintain school grounds in the Madison, WI school system (has an asset tag from Madison Metropolitan School District anyhow, just my guess). The mower deck is another story. It is in rough shape (has several rusted through holes in the deck) but the spindles seem to be solidly mounted yet, so it has a little bit of life left in it (I did mow the front half of the yard and did not find any problems). I'll be looking for another 48" (1690986) deck. The gearbox is in excellent shape and not leaking (I don't think it is all that old, has a sticker on it of some kind).
  • Condition Now Work in progress. Ordered new hydro control rod and did some standard maintenance. 5/2/2020: Purchased a different mower deck and swapped all of parts from the Sunstar deck to the other deck. New deck works well barring a couple of minor modifications.
