One way is take the front spindles off and clean,take any rust off the spindle and put back together and grease very good.;) My AC 912H is also hard to steer.:D Karl

Download this manual from the simplicity site: TP_500_973_01_SV_SMA It is the service manual for the tractor, my 712H's steering set up years ago and I removed the steering gear assy. and added a grease fitting to lube the upper bushing for the steering shaft in the housing. Keep that fitting ,the fitting for the cross shaft and the kingpins greased and it should steer real easy. Don

Thanks to everybody. I took the shaft out and cleaned the bushing, gear and etc. Steers fine now. This is one case where no grease is better than old grease. Bob
