I would look at an AC D17 series IV.These tractors have have great hydraulics and alot of power for their size. They will handle a loader, brush hog, four bottom plow and a twelve foot disc.If you like your garden tractor you will love the D17 series IV.My two cents. emac

D17's are very dependable unit. Depending on the size of the unit your looking for. If you are looking for something a little bigger than a Kubo..I can't even finish typing the name. Allis made the the 5040 which is only about 40 hp but has alot of size advantages to it.

You might want to try and find an old John Deere 420 it came in trike or spread front end and was around 40 horse. I know you think green is to expensive but this model was not real popular due to its light size and vertical cylinders and can usually be had for less then say an "a" regards jim

John Deere, IH, Case, AC, Massey, their all good tractors. It depends on what you can find at a good price and the availability of parts and service in your area. The AC D17 is certainly a good tractor but if you live down the road from the JD dealer and the AC dealer is 50 miles away you might want to take that into account. Tim

I would look for a later WD-45 A-C. They have 45 hp in stock form and can easily handle a loader and many other implements. They are fairly common and not outrageously priced. For about $300-$400 you can add a 3-point hitch and use any 3-point attachment. Parts are still easy to get, and you can even get operator and parts manuals from the dealer. BTW, I own one of these and also a 58 D-17 and a 53 CA. The D-17 is also a good candidate. The Power-Director hand clutch system on these tractors gives you a hi and low in each of 4 gears and is very trouble free. If you can get a Series IV, they even have two-way hydraulics and a three-point hitch. HTH
