T816/6216 New Engine

Valve seat on the briggs 16 hp engine in one of my T816s came out and the result was the seat hammered on the aluminum block. I just replaced the engine. I purchased a new B/S 18.5 hp 42D707 to replace the 16 hp 40_707. The fit was almost perfect. the only change I had to make was the linkage on the governor on the new engine was in the way of the sheet metal and the muffler. I used the old intake manifold and the governor linkage from the 16 hp on the 18.5 with the new carb from the 18.5 hp and the problem was solved. With the sheet metal back on (sheet metal bolts on exactly like 16 hp)the new engine is not noticable at all. With hood up the decals are the only evidence of a new engine. Runs great and makes a well used tractor run like new for about $400. It was a fun day doing it as well.
