surviver2003 Posted June 17, 2003 Posted June 17, 2003 Have a 14hp cast iron koehler engine that has a piece of one of the cast iron fins broken off.:( The piece is shaped like a sharks tooth or triangle. It is approximately one(1) inch across the base and 1/2 inch high. The motor seems to run fine without it, but will there be long term effects? Like eventually ruining the bearings or something? Any opinions.
Bunky Posted June 17, 2003 Posted June 17, 2003 I have Ran many engines like this as long as it still cools it will be fine...
Nick Posted June 17, 2003 Posted June 17, 2003 Wouldn't worry about it. Was talking to somebody a few years back about a lawn mower he purchaced back in the 60's really cheap because two of the fins towards the bottom were broken. He was told by the dealer it had fallen of the truck. He said he never had a problem with it for the 20 years he owned it.
HubbardRA Posted June 18, 2003 Posted June 18, 2003 You'll never know if you don't try. I'd run it till it quit, then worry about it.
