My 7112 had been giving me some trouble when I tried to mow the other day-now granted it has never run perfect since I bought it 5 years ago-blows smoke, loud, I come in the house smelling after mowing, but I like it (my wife not so crazy about it). Anyway last night tried to mow again, got it started, but it quit after a few minutes, got it started again and seemed to be running fine for a few seconds til it really revved up and BANG! broken connector rod. The engine has already been bored .030 over and who knows what the cylinder looks like now. Cant really afford to buy a brand new plastic tractor but not sure of my options on repairing this one. I thought I read a post yesterday aboout somebody buying a new engine for about $350 and getting it delivered to their door but cant find it now. ANy thoughts on what I should do?

There's a 12 horse Briggs in the classifieds here, and I have a Kohler 12 horse that needs a rebuild that I'll be getting rid of when I part out the Jake 1200 Chief.

You won't find a brand new 12horse for $350. Seriously doubt it anyway. Check www.smallenginewarehouse.com for options, or post a want ad here for one that runs or can be rebuilt. Brent
