Tragu
I recently got fed up with the spring loaded shifter handle on my 3416H with Vickers hydro and removed this not so handy device. After doing so, I found there was not enough friction to hold the shifter in place, thereby causing a random variable speed effect - not good. I then discovered that by removing the spring that goes from the hydro control shaft arm to the cover over the transmission cooler I did not need the extra friction to keep the shifter in place, and all seems to work fine. Question - what harm am I doing to the hydro, if any, by leaving the arm spring off? Brent
dlcentral
No you won't do any damage to the hydro BUT you may find that the lever won't hold a set position when going up and down grades especially when going up grades. And yes the locking type lever IS truely a pain,we took ours off too,but found out that for it to remain in a set position, you will need to hook up the spring that goes to the top of the oil cooler. dlc
