Head Cleaning

I need to clean the head on the B&S. There is quite a bit of carbon buildup and there is a limit to what high-pressure water and WD 40 can do. I was wondering if it was safe to use 150 grit sand paper to get the really tough stuff off and then finish it off with 320 grit and a polishing? Or would this remove too much metal and cause too many imperfections in the metal?

Chip it out with a chisel and stay clear of mating surface, head to block. You can chip it out by hand.

Site programming updates were made 3/23/2024. As a result some things have changed including dues payment options. We will continue maintenance and work with technicians to regain credit card payment option and clear up minor challenges. On positive it appears attaching pictures is now easier. Good day. Gene
