712 H no power

here is what is happening, maybe someone out there will have some ideas. The machine is new to me, got it with a tiller, mower, and blower. Problem 1, appears differential is locked up when turning. Problem 2, when going top speed engine throttle at max goes good for about 50-75 feet then loses power, engine will recover when I bring the speed lever back to a slow speed. Problem 2, appears to be lack of fuel now darn thing won't start, fuel to carb haven't gone any further than that yet. Thanks for any help with these items you may have. Del

One of 3 things or maybe a combination. I would first check the fuel pump. There are 2 tiny one way valves that may have a slight leak and might not meet the demand of the engine at full throttle. Second, check the carb float. That might be a possible cause. Third and lets hope not, you might have a valve problem. I'd strongly lean towards the fuel pump though. You can get a rebuild kit for about 12 to 13 dollars and it's really easy to do. Just be careful putting in those one way valves there is a tab on them that breaks really easily. I found out the hard way. Best of luck
