Well, The Peerless Model 801-019 5-speed trans/diff on an '87-4208G (same 5-speed on 8,10,11,12 HP G tractors) appears to be perm sealed. :( Would like to chance oil. Ideas? Thanks A

Yes they are sealed and they use a grease instead of oil... I had to get a rebuilt trans for my 4211 that I had and the dealer told me that the bad thing about those is that you can't grease them.He recommended to drill at the ends of the case by the axle bearings and put in a zirk as that is the spot that they have problems with..He said to put in about 2-3 sqirts of grease in it a year.

Kevin Thanks, good idea. Did the dealer happen to say, if he would take a chance and drill the cases without disassemblying them? A

Andy,The dealer did'nt say really how to do it, but I would think you would get some metal inside the case if you drilled it out assembled.I think I would split the case to do that as to be sure not to get anything inside...
