After several hours spent in a carb rebuild and still having trouble getting my old Simplicity System 7013 hydro to run for more then a few mins., I found bad gaskets at intake where carb tube connects to the engine block. It now runs like a champ. BUT, it was knocking loudly. I pulled the head and found that after more then 1400 hours of time on the tractor the piston and cylinder are more or less egg shaped. Not sure if the engine is worth saving as looks as if we may need to go more then .030 over. My question is, does anyone know of a good used engine lying around that they would be willing to part with at a resonable price or what I might be able to bolt in as a replacement? I love my old tractor but don't want to spend more than a few hundred on it at this time. Any ideas or help? Engine is a Brigg & Stratton Model 302431 Type 0155-01 13HP Tactor is Simplicity Model 1690184. UPDATE - further research since I originally posted this message this morning found the bolt-in replacement for this engine would be a Briggs Model 326431 Type 2582 16HP. Anybody have one or can advise of price on one?
