Recommended Posts

I want to make a 3 point hitch on a 7XX tractor? I can fab most anything, is there adequate mounting on the rear of the tractor to start with though? Has anyone done this before? Where is the best place/way to mount the extra hydro pump? thanks Kevin

First we would need to know if you are talking about the older Simplicity 700 or 725 tractors or the AC 710 thru 718 series. They are quite different machines as far as mounting a pump. If it is an AC 700 series, and you don't have a front PTO, you can mount it just behind the grille to run off the front shaft. If it is a Simplicity 700 then you will have to mount it outside in front of the grille, or get a driveshaft adapter with pulley and mount it behind the engine.

Sorry I did not specify...AC 71X models is what I was thinking off. What about mounting a pulley on the drive shaft that turns the stock rear hydro. Is it possible to mount the pump under there and drive the pump off a pulley and belt running off the drive shaft?? Is there somewhere to mount the 3 arms to on the rear of the tractor? thanks again, Kevin

You may want to check out the hitch that John Scheele (of Johnny Bucket fame) made for his Simplicity... http://www.simpletractors.com/club2/topic.asp?ARCHIVE=true&TOPIC_ID=12234&SearchTerms=hitch As far as driving the pump, I'd think you really only have to options on the rear of the tractor -- and that's either side of the bevel gear box. Since the 710-series Allis has a cone clutch, then driving it off the same side as the existing hydrostat pump might be best.... You might be able to drive the hydraulics off the existing hydrostat pump, but they wouldn't be live when you clutch the tractor....

That lift looks great, but if I dont have an existing mechanical/hydro lift, I guess I can mount a cylinder on that design and have the cylinder lift up the middle arm of the 3 point? Did that tractor in the link already have a hydro lift? or what did the lifting work? I need to find a picture of the back of a 714/16/18 to see what I will start with and what will work, I guess. thanks Kevin
