Are all bevel gear boxes the same?

Recommended Posts

I found an old junked AC710 with a good bevel gear box and I was wondering if it would work in a Simplicity 3310H. The 710 has a different chassis in the front, different steering setup, hood, cowl, etc. but looks to be the same from the BGB on back. Would this fit and work in my 3310H. Your advice is appreciated. John

I think the only difference is the output shaft on tractors with varible speed are longer and treaded for a nut. The ones with a cone clutch may have a different shaft on the left side, never seen one.MPH

Correct... the shaft is a bit different on the port side. The 3300 series used the older-style pto, the 710 has (I believe) a cone-style clutch. I think they're the same apart form the output shaft for the pto.

Yes, the 3300 series uses the old style PTO and the 3400 sereis went to the cone clutch.
