Ryan Posted July 31, 2003 Posted July 31, 2003 My uncle was trying out my tractor today when I heard a really loud knocking sound and the tractor quick moving. The bevel gear box went out of it. Man does it make one heck of a noise. I hope the shaft is ok because I have a set of gears out of a 3314v. Does anything else usually need repaired besides just replacing the gears or shoud I just find a new bgb? Thanks, Ryan
BLT Posted July 31, 2003 Posted July 31, 2003 You wou't know until you look into it. From your description, souds like the teeth just stripped out and a real clunky noise will be noticed. This is only a guess. Whatever the case, BGB has to come out, repairs can't be done in place.
Ryan Posted July 31, 2003 Author Posted July 31, 2003 Why can't the repairs be made in place? Is it because of the way that the driveshaft gear is held into place? Well now would be a good time to put is my hydro lift. Thanks, Ryan
thedaddycat Posted August 1, 2003 Posted August 1, 2003 New bearings and seals are relatively cheap and now would be the perfect time to put them in......
