MPH Posted August 3, 2003 Posted August 3, 2003 Seem to recall someone saying these tractors had Tac/hour meters on them. The dial type. If this be true, and someone has a source for new or used ones I'd sure be grateful for the connection. Not real happy with these tinytacs been putting on my Tractors, thier delayed reaction time just doesn't impress me..Thanks..MPH
greenmack Posted August 3, 2003 Posted August 3, 2003 I have a 310 AC no hour meter or tach ,but have cover plates over the holes. The 314 has factory tach, hour meter. Talked too my local dealer he has no info on them, told me that the part numbers no longer valid for buying new.
JoeJ Posted August 3, 2003 Posted August 3, 2003 Marty, I have a 410S, and none either.
greenmack Posted August 3, 2003 Posted August 3, 2003 Hi JoeJ. Maybe you would know, I have a AC-310. I need the bracket for the snowthrower.I have a picture of it ,but not sure if it is the right one for the 310. If you could be of any help I would be greatful.
KSever Posted August 3, 2003 Posted August 3, 2003 I have a tach I found on Ebay that will fit the hole and is for small engines but it is not the correct one that came with the tractor. The original one had an hour meter in it and this one I bought for $10 does not. Haven't the tractor back together yet so I don't know if it works yet. I do believe CleanBee has an original one on his Allis that was at the Rhinelander meet. GreenMack, You wouldn't happen to have the drawing or picture for the 400 series snowblower hitch?
jkmustang1 Posted August 3, 2003 Posted August 3, 2003 Both the 410s and 410m that Charlie has do not have the hour meter just a knockout spot in the dash.
JoeJ Posted August 3, 2003 Posted August 3, 2003 :)Howdy Dave, Nope, I can't help you, all that I have with the 410S is a mower deck. But I would think someone will come along that can help you. I'm fairly new to this also, so will be watching too. But you may want to start a new topic with the question. Sorry
Charlieson Posted August 3, 2003 Posted August 3, 2003 I seem to recall a Amp guage on my 312. I'll check and see if it has an hour meter on it. ddh
MPH Posted August 3, 2003 Author Posted August 3, 2003 Maybe it was your ebay score I was thinkin of Kris, sure would like to score half dozen of such. Seems they'd be findable in gen use or something, just haven't hit it yet. Thanks guys..MPH
SmilinSam Posted August 3, 2003 Posted August 3, 2003 Marty, I could be wrong, but I seem to recall a dealer once told me the tachs/hourmeter (all in one) were the same as the ones used in the bigger Farm tractors like the D-14, D-15, D-17. Thats why for such a big hole in the dash needing the cover plate.
Pete Posted August 4, 2003 Posted August 4, 2003 I have an Allis 312. It has an amp meter but does not have an hour meter. This tractor has been in my family since it was new in 1972. Best of luck!
SmilinSam Posted August 4, 2003 Posted August 4, 2003 Thats the big critter there that fits where the big circular cover plate is on the dash of the 300-400 series..
KSever Posted August 4, 2003 Posted August 4, 2003 Marty and Sam, I knew I took a picture of CleanBee's Dash at Rhinelander and just found it. Sorry Dan I just had to post it for you. If you can make it out. The large gauge in the middle is a tach and has the hour meter on the bottom of the gauge.
SmilinSam Posted August 4, 2003 Posted August 4, 2003 Kris, thats the original for a 300 series? Just asking , like I said I'm just repeating something I was told a while back regarding the tractor ones being the same..
Boney Posted August 4, 2003 Posted August 4, 2003 KSever, Cleanbee, that is the nicest looking dash i have ever seen, reeeeeeeeeeal nice peice, wish i could see the whole tractor. Who ever did the work on that did a great job.
KSever Posted August 4, 2003 Posted August 4, 2003 Sam, As far as I know it is the original one for 300-400 series. But don't quote me on that for sure. I believe it does have the Allis logo in the middle. I had to look at that dash for a while.
Kent Posted August 4, 2003 Posted August 4, 2003 Kris, Do you remember what the remainder of those gauges are? Looks like a voltmeter, and possibly a head temp gauge (you can get a sender that goes under the sparkplug).... What are the other two? That's one sweet looking dash.... I keep waiting for someone to mount a radio and speakers in a B-110/112 raised dash...
KSever Posted August 4, 2003 Posted August 4, 2003 Kent, I don't remember for sure since I was most interested in the tach/hour meter but I do know the top right is the gas gauge and one of them is a vaccume I believe. I should Dan an email and ask for sure.
jkmustang1 Posted August 4, 2003 Posted August 4, 2003 Kent Why not original type radio showen in dealer flyer? It is so big you have to mount it behind you to see around it. I can remember seeing them on the fender of the big tractors. But never on a garden tractor.
Kent Posted August 4, 2003 Posted August 4, 2003 Jon, I've never seen one of the optional fender-mount radios for these... but there are small radios that would fit right into that console... for example some of the weatherproof ones made for boats.
jkmustang1 Posted August 4, 2003 Posted August 4, 2003 True or you could do like my older bother did to a old no name flat top vertical shaft rider. Put an l bracket on the hood strap a personal stereo to it. Put on the mini headphones and go he did that for many years. Till he got a new big box store mower a few years ago.
greenmack Posted August 4, 2003 Posted August 4, 2003 Yea but if you d'ont have a tach, and listing to ronnie millsap how will you know if your over reving the motor.
MPH Posted August 5, 2003 Author Posted August 5, 2003 That is a fine looking dash you posted Kris, and precisely the kind of tac I'm dreamin of finding. Thanks Kris..MPH
KSever Posted August 5, 2003 Posted August 5, 2003 Marty, Maybe something like this might work. I have an email into the ebay seller to find out if it's 12v or cable driven.
