i have a 6hp b&s on my broadmoor, i put on a short stack of 3/4 pipe, with the stock type muffler on top, its still very loud, the women of the house are the complainers---any ideas on making a 6hp quiet without spending too much cash?

It helps a little bit to point them at the ground or under the tractor. Just be careful not to point it at anything that shouldnt get hot.

Take a small section of 1/4" or 3/8" screen and roll it up and put it in the pipe. It will give you slightly higher backpressure and quite it down a bit.

Thanks daddycat, that worked great, wife thought it sounded much better-- since i have to listen to her...thanks again

Yes, and it was so "Simple", hope they don't see the hole in the rabbit hutch }:)

Eat the rabbits. Maybe they will never notice they aren't there. DaddyCat, do you need to fasten the screening in any way?

i used 1/4 in galvanized wire "mesh" about 6X8 inches, rolled it tight enough to fit into the pipe, put the muffler back on, its held in by it. works much better, now its up to the dogs to get the rabbits back--finders keepers.

""the women of the house are the complainers" I remember reading about a certain west african tribe where all the women having that 'time' were sequestered and had to coexist in a single hut. Seems to me, if you can send two away for a week each per month, thats half a month of quiet and being able to run your tractor. But, if the mesh works................

Complaining women! Kind of makes you wonder why a guy would ever become a bigamist. And even worse, Two mothers in law.

Now that is a true MSDS type sheet.

The sheet fails to advise what to do when the "Element" reaches critical mass.

Buy the women of the house earplugs.:);)^
