nighteye Posted August 10, 2003 Posted August 10, 2003 I got done mowing the lawn yesterday with a 9020 (Onan CCKB) and when I moved the throttle lever rapidly from full to Idle, it let out a puff of blue smoke.? No smoke before or after the decelleration. I ran it for another 10 minutes on another piece of lawn and tried it again and got the same result. Its never done it before and I am concerned for her health. Can anyone help me out on this? Its got 820 or so hours on the motor and runs real good. Thanks, Ken
patrician12 Posted August 10, 2003 Posted August 10, 2003 When you quickly close the throttle on an engine the manifold vacuum skyrockets from 15 to 25 inches. You are either washing the rings with gas from a worn carburetor or scavenging oil out of the crankcase breather tube. It's really a better idea to throttle down gradually anyway.
