You know that 7016 with the locked up Briggs I brought home for $60 last weekend?.. I robbed the carb off it to get the boys Homelite T-16 project running the other day. Today I was looking for a PTO cap and decided to take the one off the 7016 for now. Hmmmmmmmm... found the Bevel Gear box shaft wouldn't turn..AT All. Usually there is some movement even if the engine is locked. Hmmmmmmmmm.. Curiosity aroused I took the driveshaft off.. Hmmmmmmmm...Hmmmmmmmmmmm...mmmmmmm..Hmmmmmmmm Engine spun free! Curiosity is really killing the cat by now.. Grabbed the carb I took off the T16 (which did work but not well) and slapped it on the 7016 engine, by passed the bad wiring, hooked up a temp gas tank, and proceeded to give the thought a whirl... By Thunder!!! the dang thing runs!!! and without smoke that I could see!!!! Had plenty of loose gear boxes but never a locked up one till now..

I wonder if you have a spun bearing or a hunk of metal down in there.

So, you have $60 in a good running 16HP, plus whatever other good parts you can remove... what a deal!

Don't know, but it will be over the winter or spring before I open it up to see.

I'm finding it pays to keep a few spare parts including an engine or two. Doubt I sell this one, even if I did it wouldn't be before I had a chance to test it out by working it.

Between the HB-212 and the 7016, and a 3212V with a Hydrolift I may end up with, it looks like I could have another interesting winter project developing here...whaddaya think? Besides, I'm really getting burned out on selling . If I could get the 720 with all the attachments sold for the price on it, I'd pay off my truck , quit selling for a while, and play with my own stuff for a change.

the 16hp briggs that was in the 3314v, the crank turns, valves move up and down, but piston aint moving(rod is snapped), so goin to rebuild it this winter, if the cylinder wall is A-OK.

Hay Sam, Did you also replace and engine in a tractor with a Honda? If so how is it running? I'm about to try it on my 620. Thanks Mike

I bought the kit from Small engine warehouse to replace the Onan in my 720. Its been running fine, but I'm still concerned about potential cooling problems that were never addressed by SEW. I added a second fan powered electric oil cooler to mine to help keep the transmission oil cool. I would stilll like to do something about the heat build up under the hood too.
