48" and 60" decks on a Landlord 101

At some point in the future, I will upgrade my Landlord 101's engine to something on the order of a 16HP, perhaps even a 24HP engine (I'll be as greedy as fortune will permit me). Assuming I have a powerful enough engine, will any of the 48" or 60" mower decks physically fit a '65 Landlord 101?

They will not fit the stock tractor. You would need to lengthen the frame by four inches for the 48" to fit, but that would be about the extent of any modification. Lengthening the frame could be easily accomplished by modifying the original rear frame plates or replaceing the rear frame plates and some hardware with those of a 3112v, 3210v, or 3212V (B-112, B-210, or B-212). I'm not sure what modifications it would take to mount a 60" deck, but I don't see why it couldn't be done too. Pat

I made an adapter to use the rear from my 61 Wards (same as the Landlord) in the chassis of an AC716H when we were tractor pulling. Just moved the BGB rearward by putting the adapter between BGB and frame. Also required a longer driveshaft. I still have the adapter, and if I can find it, still have the driveshaft. If you want them we could probably work something out. I could also post pictures if you want to make your own. I also tried a 48 inch deck and it will not fit under my 61 Wards. Wheelbase is too short.

Actually, I just spoke to a gentleman from here in Ontario, and he raised the prospect of getting my hands on a 42" deck. Since I don't have any deck at all, I'll worry about getting one that works out of the box, first.

Torin, I think you'd like the 42" deck better any way. Personally, I like the way the 42" deck cuts much better than the 48"... the wider the deck the greater the likelihood of either "scalping" or "stair-stepping" cuts on a slope.

I agree with Kent, I like my 42 a lot better than my 48.
