SmilinSam Posted August 23, 2003 Posted August 23, 2003 First, don't ground the amp gauge. All you did was to short the electical system to ground and kick the breaker out. If there wasn't a breaker you would have likely burned the wiring up. You will need to get a wiring diagram and find the wire thats supposed to be connected to the post and go from there. The charging systems on these old Onans are a troublesome thing it seems and very expensive to fix if one needs new components.

Repair manual - TP 500-0504-01-PM-SA Parts manual - TP 400-1370-00-PM-S UCD (maynard) has listed several times on here a simple way to search the tech pub website. There have been several threads on this site about charging system troubleshooting,(I've used them myself) just search this site. Post your questions and someone will respond.
