Got a chance this weekend to play, oops, work with some new tools/implements. Finally mounted the grader blade I got from Dutch.

Used a Brinley box scraper mount. Had to make a bolster plate, the mounting plate from Brinley is just a little to narrow for the blades mounting holes. I bought an extra part to modify so that I can still use the box scraper blade or the tooth blade. Also got to mount the Johhny bucket.

I rerouted the lift cable and used the homemade counterweight to keep from pulling out my left arm lifting the soil/sod I removed. Used them both to regrade an area where later this week I will be having an under ground propane tank intalled. Thanks to Dutch for the mounting idea it worked great. Thanks to Maynard for the postings on the lift cable and the sleeve hitch availability.

Greg, 1. How did the Johnny Bucket work for you, with that re-routed lift cable and counterweight? 2. What did the parts cost for the Brinly rear mount, if you don't mind me asking?

Kent, The part I bought was the mounting plate with the vertical pivot shaft welded to it. The plate had two bends in it, but was as tall as Dutch's blade was so I cut off the bottom third of the plate at the bend. The part was about $28, I think. The receipt is at home. Called customer service, ordered it and got it in a week. As for the lift it worked great with the Johnny bucket. It was light when it was empty, still pretty heavy to lift when filled full. Had to use two hands a couple of times. I will probably adjust the amount of weight, or add to the lever length like Kirk did. I looked at the cable after I installed it, it looks like it comes close to rubbing an edge on the underside of the frame, and the pully/bushing were not even in contact with the cable. I plan on looking closer for wear soon. I would like to eventually use the electric lift kit, but I am not sure about how much weight to use so that I do not overload the lift both with a full bucket and when it is empty ( with too much counter weight) Marty, Thanks, it was fun. I bought the 716-6 from a member about a year ago. It's my "newest" Allis. The rest B-1 thru late B-10 are not as clean as this one. GregB

Nice outfit Greg. I bet you did have fun.8D Maybe soon I'll have the time to mount the blade that I got from Dutch since Pat was nice enough to make a hitch for me.;)

Kent, I re-read my earlier posting and two things came to mind. 1. I did not price buying just what I needed from Brinley. The box blade I bought locally at Home Depot for ~$170. Then I bought the pivot mount from Brinley. Since they shut down manufacturing were I work, and the welder up the road was badly burn in a welding accident, it is harder for me to easily find material for my projects. So I just bit the bullet and bought the extra part. 2. I remember though the rear blade worked well, I found myself wishing that I could have put down pressure on the rear blade. I tried to switch it over to my wifes Big Ten but the height of the bushing welded to the hitch I use with bottom plow is taller. I guess that I will try picking up or making a sleeve hitch to use just with the rear blade and the FDT's GregB
