328 Posted August 26, 2003 Posted August 26, 2003 I JUST PAID $60.00 FOR A 10HP(243431) ENGINE,WITH STARTER/GEN.TOO MUCH?CHEAP? OR JUST RIGHT? IT DOES RUN. THE SIMPLICITY I TALKED ABOUT IN "THEY DON'T UNDERSTAND" IS A 5116. THE GUY WAS NOT HOME, BUT I LEFT MY NUMBER. HE ALSO HAD A REAR ENGINE SIMPLICITY, GRAVELY, FORD, AND 1 MORE BUT I CAN'T REMEBER. I'M GETTING PRICES FOR ALL. WHAT DOES A 5116 IN GOOD SHAPE GO FOR? I'M GOING TO START AT $100.00 AND GO FROM THERE. I ALSO BOUGHT ANOTHER STARTER/GEN. FOR $45.00. I THINK I'VE FOUND 2 OLD GUYS THAT WERE IN THE USED LAWN/GARDEN PARTS BUISNESS, WANTING TO GET RID OF THERE STUFF, MOSTLY FOR FREE, IF SO, I WILL SELL PARTS CHEAP TO CLUB MEMBERS, AND DONATE SOME MONEY TO THE CLUB.
dirtsaver Posted August 26, 2003 Posted August 26, 2003 Matthew I can tell you that $60 for the engine was a good deal. The starter/generators sell for $50-$75 used up here around Louisville. Even if the engine smokes or does not run great it's worth the price for parts. As for the 5116, I'm not familar with those models but I'd think any Simplicity/AC tractor that ran well and mowed would be worth $100-$150. If you get the old guys' parts let me know as I'm always looking for parts for my tractors and cast iron Briggs parts. Larry
