sun41bird Posted August 30, 2003 Posted August 30, 2003 i ordered the needle bearings and thrust washers to do the front spindle modification today and i was wondering as to how they hold up long term? Also has anyone figured out a boot for these?
sun41bird Posted August 31, 2003 Author Posted August 31, 2003 i did one side today the one with the e clip had to grind the tube alittle so clip would slide on its a very easy inexpensive modification and works so smooth i was thinking of a piece of split rubber tube and a band clamp for a boot or maybe a cut down cv boot does anyone know if trailer greese would work better in this case?
JCS Posted September 2, 2003 Posted September 2, 2003 I added them to by B-1 and really didnt see an improvement. It is still hard to turn so I am looking elsewhere for problems.
KenK Posted September 2, 2003 Posted September 2, 2003 I made boots for the bottom using a by-pass hose made for a 318 mopar.I cut the hose to length slid it on and put a hose clamp around it.
sun41bird Posted September 2, 2003 Author Posted September 2, 2003 the tractor was never very hard to steer but when i took the spindles off the thrust washers were worn pretty bad i figured the low cost of parts justified the upgrade i hope
