Landlord 64/65;engineB&S 23D model

Hi everyone.I`m from ROMANIA and I have a Landlord 314 since 64/65 with B&S engine 23D model,0129-02 type,42063 serie.I have problems with the engine.I need a repair manual for it or a suggestion for change it.Can I change it with a B&S engine model 326431 (16 HP )? The 23D has just 9HP. For 23D I need a carburetor and I didn`t find it here in ROMANIA.For make the change with 326431 model I need information about the engine (technical specifications),can you help me? Let`s say "Simplicity the Best!" Dan

Dan, Welcome to the group. I'll jump in, and hope others will correct me if I'm wrong. I think the 326431 will bolt right in, if you can find one. As far as I know it was used interchangeably with the 243431 10HP and 300421 12HP in the same tractors. And, the 243431 replaced the 23D model you have.... They weren't available in AC's (that I know of) since AC was building their tractors in Lexington (400 Series with Kohlers) while Simplicity was building their own with Briggs by the time the HP was raised to 16.... I don't think AC ever used the 16HP single Briggs, but I may be wrong.... I don't have any specs on the engine, here's a link to the 73 Sovereign that used it... Thank`s Kent.I found a 326431 at B&S dealer from Switzerland but it cost 1,130.80$ without shipping and it`s to much for me.I think I will make an electronic ignition for the engine and change the carburetor with one from a romanian engine.It may be work!I will tell you what it`s the result.Thank`s again! I have been looking for a 326431 engine for a long time and found that they are pretty rare. The 300400 series is more available and offers about the same power.
