Do I need high temp paint for engine?

Orange

Recommended Posts

I have an old Wisconsin engine I'm mounting on my Simplicity Model V walker. I want to paint it either AC orange or Gloss Black. I have a lot of rustoleum black and implement orange spray cans. Will they hold up to the temperatures of the engine? Do I need to buy high temp paint. Thanks for your opinions, advice, and/or pictures.

One major advantage with some high temp. engine paints is that the paint is claimed to be oil- and gasproof. I've used Duplicolor engine paint with some success. I know it will stand the heat, and it's gasproof. That type of paint is what I'd go with.
