carb. problem on old 725

Get a new needle & seat. Make sure the float does not leak (i.e. sink). Could be crud in the needle & seat. Most B & S dealers can get, or have, a repair kit. Also do a site search on carburetors. There is a lot of info here on disassembly & repair.

Hello Bill, I had a hard time finding a kit too. Try Shakeys Small Engine- thats where I got mine. Be VERY CAREFUL on the rebuild- there is one brass seat in there that if you force, the carb is shot. Good luck! http://shakyparts.com/tecumseh_engines_parts.html

Jeff Nemes (a sponser of this site)can get a new carb for you. I bought a brand new one from him after going to several BS dealers (they could not find the correct #'s). Mine was shot (warped)the new one cost ~$115.00 (ouch) but I figure she needed one after 40 years of LOYAL SERVICE!JH
