Chris727 Posted October 19, 2003 Posted October 19, 2003 Today I went to an aution of the remaining contents of an old Western Auto that was a simplicity dealer for several years. I got for $3 a box of manuals and microfishe. The manuals are nearly all simplicity and there were two of the "large frame repair manuals" so it saves me a hefty download and if that wasn't all the box had the complete set of simplicity microfishe from the old walking tractors through the Legacy!! I also got tons of fische for wizards and AYP. The box also included some 15 dealer videos for the LandlordDLX, Zero turn, Regent,Broadmoor also training videos. And for $5 I got the microfishe machine! How did I do guys?
JimV Posted October 19, 2003 Posted October 19, 2003 Thats great, it sure is handy having that stuff on hand when you need it.
bigcountry Posted October 19, 2003 Posted October 19, 2003 I might could use the stuff you got on Wizards. Got anything for a 11hp, 38" cut Wizard lawn tractor?
Bunky Posted October 20, 2003 Posted October 20, 2003 Yes it sounds like you got a Great deal... I always keep my old manuals from car, tractors, ETC. and more then once it has paid off .... you never know when you or someone else may need some info.....
BrownA Posted October 20, 2003 Posted October 20, 2003 Do you have a 1-800 number for looking up parts ? JUST KIDDING. That's a great score. Al
dirtsaver Posted October 20, 2003 Posted October 20, 2003 Chris that was a great score. I guess you know that qualifies you as an official club archivist now. Bear with us if we call upon you time to time for info. They say knowledge is power, boy you are a big Kahunha now bud! Larry
Chris727 Posted October 20, 2003 Author Posted October 20, 2003 A friend of mine who owns a small lawnmower repair shop said he gave $300 for just a machine, I belive it was used. I've spent hours looking throught the info. I don't have the fishe for Allis or AGCO deutz or massey. But I do have some simplicity homelite fishe as well as some for the JD Sabres. Bad thing about it is I can't print any of the fishe up. I also have the years of manufacture for most simplicty tractors. If you need simplicty info ask me but I cannot scan or print from the microfishe. Bigcountry, who made your wizard, about how old is it, and what are the model and serial numbers, what do you need to know? -Chris
lboy1971 Posted October 21, 2003 Posted October 21, 2003 I have a Wizard from the late 60's. I was told built by Gilson. Has a cross mounted 12HP Kohler with oil pan like Cubs and JDs. Two blade deck that spin opposite of each outher and out both sides. Don't have to worry about which way to drive when cutting that way I suppose, lol. Any info on this one in those fisches?
BigSix Posted October 22, 2003 Posted October 22, 2003 What an unbelievable find! I hope you bought a Lotto ticket that same day?
bigcountry Posted October 22, 2003 Posted October 22, 2003 The Wizard I have is about 20-25 years old and is definitely a MTD made one, it has a 7spd. variable drive trans., with an 11hp Briggs #253707 series engine. It's dark outside now, so I'll look for the tractor SN# tomorrow afternoon. It's in rather rough shape, all beat up, I gave $40 for it about a month ago in hopes of getting a good engine out of it, but it didnt run when I bought it, and come to find out the thing knocks and smokes really bad, now that it does run. Man I bought it from said he got it out of the back lot at the local JD dealer and he gave $100 for it and used it for 2 years before I got it.
