Agricola Posted October 21, 2003 Posted October 21, 2003 I guess the discussion on the color of the Broadmoor dash was a good topic. How about pinstriping on the rear fenders of a Broadmoor. I have one that has a single pinstripe that is parallel, about an inch above, the lower edge of the rear fender. Is this stock for any year or was it an add on by a rebuilder?
mowerman1193 Posted October 21, 2003 Posted October 21, 2003 I have never seen any with the stripes but that doesn't mean they didn't have them that way.... Like the Landlords I have one that has pin stripes on the side panels and one that doesn't...
TomSchmit Posted October 22, 2003 Posted October 22, 2003 I looked at my pile of Broadmoor parts, and sure enough, there was rear fender with black pinstriping around the edge, about 3/4" in from the edge of the metal. I do not know where it came from, but the decal shows it to be from a "later" model 728 or 738 (or maybe 727 - I have never had a 727. The decal on the earlier 717 was different, and the later 5008/5010/3008 was also different. The pinstriping sure looks to be factory original but I can't be sure! Tom Schmit
Agricola Posted October 22, 2003 Author Posted October 22, 2003 This pinstripe was white, about 1/4 inch wide......
mowerman1193 Posted October 22, 2003 Posted October 22, 2003 Hmmm..Well I have seen every model of the older Broadmoors exept the 738..Maybe thats what it was from...or maybe its a deluxe model or something...I know the older(707,717 ect.) ones had a standard and deluxe models.I belive the standard was a pull start and smaller rear tires..and the deluxe was electric start, bigger tires and hub caps..
thedaddycat Posted October 22, 2003 Posted October 22, 2003 The Standard had the small hub caps that only covered the rear hub hole and were put on from the inside, that is to say you put it in the hole in the wheel then bolted the wheel on. On the front end, the collars that hold the front wheels onto the spindles have chromed covers built onto them. The Deluxe had full wheel covers front and rear. The Electric start was the 990303 (I believe) and was not available until 1964. I have a 1963 Broadmoor and the dash decal does not list the electric start tractor, only the Standard and Deluxe models where as the 1964 Broadmoor I parted out had the electric start option listed on the dash decal.....
simplicity707 Posted October 23, 2003 Posted October 23, 2003 Mine is a 990303, and when I bought it, it only had one hubcap left and that was the left hand rear one. I'd like to see the hubcaps that go from the inside, i've never seen any.
