Hi all Can't get the carb right on Alice my B110. The body is mangeled around the venturi tube and the hi and lo speed adjustments. I talked to Tim tonight and he says he never could get it right and stay there. He was going to try to find one if he kept the tractor. I called him because I saw the hydro lift on ebay going for more than I paid for the tractor LOL. He also said he found the extra blades and that I get the chains too they don't fit the JD he bought. Thanks again all.

Good luck on a carb Jon. I buy every stray one I run across. My stash has grown to a grand total of......0.... that's how few I see around here! Larry

I may have 2-3 here for sale minus the air cleaner stand and air cleaner. These are for the older 1960's tractors 10-12 hp 4 bolt throttle body using a foam type air cleaner.

Well Gang I struck out. 2 of the 3 were badly corroded and pitted from that white corrosion. The third may be enough to get mustangs situation fixed though.

What is the white corrosion in old carbs?? Thats what ate the bowl out on my 'new' 16hp. Strange looking rust..MPH

I don't know what it is , but its been the end of about 6 carbs this year that would have otherwise been fairly good. As you can see from Mustang post above I did find a fourth carb after rummaging around for a while. The third one (body only)he was going to take is body only and ended up being a manual choke type with the control lever on the wrong side for a tractor application.

The white corrosion is the aluminum equivalent of iron & steel rust. Aluminum does corrode if the aluminum oxide surface film (skin) is damaged or removed. My 2 cents.

Many gasolines, especially in colder areas will have a percentage of alcohol added in colder months. Alcohol causes extreme corrosion if left in contact with aluminum for some time. Learned this from the guys who were running alcohol at the tractor pulls. I knew one guy who would run all of the alcohol out of the carb and then fill with gasoline to prevent this corrosion. Knew several other alcohol burners who could clean the carb between pulls to eliminate the white corrosion. If the sticker on the pump says the gasoline has been oxygenated, this means they have added alcohol. It also prevents carb and gas line freeze-up. That is all that drygas is.
