Boney Posted October 27, 2003 Posted October 27, 2003 If you have used AG tires how are they on grass? By this i mean do they tear it up? Leave marks? Do you like them? Thanks :)
lsenus Posted October 27, 2003 Posted October 27, 2003 I love my set. Any tire will tear up the grass if it's soft and wet, or a tire spins. So far though no problems.
PatRarick Posted October 27, 2003 Posted October 27, 2003 My regular "garden tractor" is equipped with ag tires on the rear and tri-ribs on the front. Occasionally, it is used for mowing. Never had a problem unless the ground is wet. Even then, it will only leave tracks for a day or so, but still doesn't tear up the grass. Pat
arjr111 Posted October 27, 2003 Posted October 27, 2003 I agree with the above plus they look good! I have since put these chin-shens on a B10, and they look even better!!
HubbardRA Posted October 27, 2003 Posted October 27, 2003 I think AGs are better on grass than turfs. If you spin a turf (they spin easier than AGs), they burn out a square section of grass. If you spin an AG, they leave a couple of lines which heal over quickly. Only place that I would prefer turf tires is on gravel roads or asphalt. This will wear ou the AGs quickly, and AGs do not produce a smooth ride on hard surfaces.
Kent Posted October 27, 2003 Posted October 27, 2003 I agree with the above suggestions. If an Ag tire starts spinning in grass, it will usually just "tear loose and lift up" chunks of sod -- if you stop it from spinning quickly. Those scars "heal" quickly. The "burns" from spinning turf tires do not.... But, try to make sure that the ground is as dry as possible when you mow, or you'll leave "tracks" in the wet yard. This is especially true if you're running a heavier tractor (loaded tires, wheel weights, or both).... Overall, if you have hills or slopes, I highly recommend the ags since you'll spin a lot less....
DaleC Posted October 27, 2003 Posted October 27, 2003 Art, Where did you get your ching shens. Did you order them or find a local outlet there. I have had no luck locating them here in northern KY/Cincy area. Supposidly there is a dealer in Florence, Ky but I have not found them yet. What did you pay for them, if you don't mind.
