Bunky Posted October 27, 2003 Posted October 27, 2003 I have asked this question before and I assume that this engine falls under the same catergory... But I picked up a 7013S and the points were all oily and burnt... I wanted to know if one of those point replacers would work on this engine because it was newer...??? I couldn't get it to work on my 3410S..
Salthart Posted October 27, 2003 Posted October 27, 2003 I have seen it said that some people have had luck with the "Atom" Type as well as magnatrons on SG engines. But it was hit and miss when I was messing with them. Were this engine mine, I'd repair the oil leak ( Plunger or oil seal maybe ), clean it all up And replace the points. Being sure to seal the points cover so that water don't condense in there and they should last for years. Just my 2 pennys worth.
mbrook Posted October 27, 2003 Posted October 27, 2003 Bunky, I have a 7013S. I hooked up the ignition module from Jacks, works great. I haven't had a problem with spark yet. And it starts almost instantly. Also I have one extra, if you want to try it your not to far. Besides its only one wire so if it doesn't work your not out anything.
roma3112 Posted October 27, 2003 Posted October 27, 2003 I have had no luck with the "magnetron" replacement on my 3112h. I have seen these non-invasive external points replacement modules and on the few examples i saw they worked and installed very easily.
