Picked this up for $75 this weekend. The guy said the kohler engine only needed a rod. I suspect it needs more, as I can't get it to turn over by hand. BGB seems pretty good. Its a pretty tractor. If the kohler is beyond rebuilding I may put a 16HP brigg on it that I was saving for my 7013S project.

I will utimately get rid of either this one or my 7013s. I just have too many projects. What do you guys like better, shuttles or six speeds?

If I had to make that decision, I'd go for the six speed. I have a 716H, a 712S, and a 61 Wards 3-speed. I also have a Sears Suburban that is 3-speed with a high-low, making it a six speed. I like the Hydro best, but my second favorite is the six speed setup. This is not so much for mowing, but for overall versatility. Unless you have trouble using a clutch, the six-speed would be my choice.

Nice looking machine. For 75 bucks you could almost put a new motor in it. 16hp briggs would suit it well also IMO. Is it a six speed? I can't quite make out the writing on the hood..MPH

Marty,it is a six speed. I personally like the looks fo the AC better than the 7013. It is an early 7013 and basicaly looks just like my 3410 landlord. What I really wish is that my Landlord was a hydro or a shuttle rather than a 3spd. I liked the idea of a shuttle or hydro for cutting grass, then I would keep the AC and sell or part out the 7013s. The 3410 is way too nice to part with as its original motor runs flawlessly, has good bgb and a new high back seat, I'll put a pic of it in my gallery.

Nice tractor, and for $75 you cant go wrong. I think the Briggs 16 would be a great engine for that tractor. Nice find. Ryan

For relaibility I think I would stick with the 6 speed. Anyone else agree?

6 speed sounds good to me. Hydros suck power. 'Course that's not a problem if you have hp to spare. My B-1 is easier to control using the clutch to stop, start, and vary speed by slipping the clutch. Sometimes on the Sovereign my hands are too busy to grab the hydro lever and do other things at the same time. If you were not so far off I would help you get rid of one of your tractors. 8o)

Wow! What a find. Help me out though, as I know beans about AC's. Is that a large frame tractor, like a Landlord? I would say you got a $200.-300. deck for $75., with a free tractor to boot! That's good horse-tradin' where I come from.

Best $75 bucks you could spend! I agree on the Briggs. Not too much of a Kohler fan. Elon
