Kohler OHC Air Filter

Has anyone found, or are working on finding, an improved air filter for the new Kohler OHC engine in the new Sovereigns? I would like to make an improved foam pre-filter but need a source for reticulated foam. Reticulated foam is open cell and designed for air flow. Just for the record my Kohler smokes on start up (like Joel's) but doesn't seem to use much oil. I would also like to find out how to adjust the governor so the engine doesn't idle so fast (2000 rpm). Thanks, Roy

There should be a regular idle stop adj screw underneath the air filter base which must be removed to gain access - even then it is hard to see but it is there.

Jeff, I'll look again but as I recall the governor keeps the throttle off the idle stop. What I need to know is how to adjust the govenor so it will allow the engine to idle without messing it up under normal operating conditions. Thanks, Roy

Is there room to put another pre filter around the existing one? They will strecth somewhat. Or you could get some spares and keep rotating them every so often. How many hours are you getting before it is choked up?

Roy,you need to adjust the idle screw,buy the Kohler Engine manual to tell you how to do it and properly set the governor.A properly set governor will keep you from damaging your engine. good luck
