My center pto unit is worn badly..all the holes are egg shaped to the point that it will not lock anymore.Even the tensioner spring has worn a big slot out of the hole that it goes in and is about to bust though.. I can fix most of the unit and probably all of it by welding and redrilling the holes out or drilling larger holes and using bushings but I am going to try the local salvage yard to see what I can find...I know he has some older Simplicitys but I dont know if he has the exact same tractor as I do...I am wondering if these are all the same or did the newer tractors have a different set up... I was hoping to find something to use so I could finish multching up my leaves..then I can take the time to rework the one thats bad..

The B series, and anything prior to an RBT (runing board tractor) should be interchangeable, however I cannot guarantee it. I know the 3400 and newer are for sure different with the cone clutch but a 3300 series may be the same.

Unless I'm mistaken, some of the holes you're talking about are in the rear frame rails that connect the transmission to the BGB. You can't use the frame rails from either a variable speed or a hydro, since they're 4" longer. You must use those from the shorter wheelbase (Landlord 2110 or older) or B-110 (or older). There are minor differences in the PTOs themselves, but if you get a complete center PTO unit, you should be OK... Just make sure it's not one of the "weird ones" that uses the double-V belt (3210/3212 or B-210/B-212)...

The 3300 uses the old style PTO with the idler pulley acting as the clutch....

Ok thanks guys..I thought they was probably about the same..I know the salvage yard has a few of the round hood tractors and a couple 3100's but I don't know if any have the parts I need..

I read a post on here about wielding up the holes. It was about using a different composition metal pipe, rod, or whatever to keep the holes open. You can put the other Metal appliance through the whole and then wield the hole up around it and the appliance you use to keep the hole open will pop out and leave you a new round hole to let your PTO, etc., hang straight. Help me out fellows if I am wrong here. Please.

I think it has to be a non-ferrous metal like copper.

You are right. I remember now. Use copper or brass. Right?
