712 Hydraulic Lift?

I was wondering if it is possible to take a 712H and convert it to hydraulic lift. Has anybody done this before? Thanks

I think that Daddycat recently said that this series of tractor used electric lifts because there was not sufficient room underneath for the standard pump and valve body.

OOO, i can make room but i just would like to know if i can remove the plugs in the pump so i can use it for the lift

Daddycat's response was to the "B" series pump and valve. That's a completely different setup. I would say that converting the 712 to hydraulic lift should be easy. I once replaced the hydro in a 919 with the hydro from a 716. Removed the plugs and installed the fittings, AND replaced the relief valve spring (under the plug between the hydro release valves) on the 716 hydro with the heavier spring from the 919 hydro. Was investigating doing so with my 716 but new lines and valve were cost prohibitive for my uses, and I have not yet found a "donor" tractor. In short, it should work fine. Pat

THanks, thats exactly what i was wanting to know.

The Sundstrand hydro will power a hydraulic lift but the Vickers will not, from what I understand. Guess I'll have to start studying up on these newfangled tractors from the 70's and 80's now..... lol

Didn't the 900 series Allis (7100 series Simplicity) tractors also have different charge pump settings or a different charge pump or something to handle the hydraulic lift.... Seems I heard that, but then I'm a foot-dragging kind of guy... :D

I thought it was stiffer springs in the charge pump relief checks or soemthing like that. Like I said, anything newer than about 1971 and I'm getting into unfamiliar ground...

Ok guys, since I got mixed up earlier and you straightened me out, I would like to know if "I" can add a hydraulic lift to my AC716H by changing the valves in Maynard's picture.

Rod, I don't know why not. There are Sundtrand hydros that are non-ported, and can't be used for hydraulics. These do not have the plugs on the side of the hydro, just below the charge check valves. There may be some on Simplicity or AC tractors where the pump is not ported, but every one I have seen is. Kirk, I can't recall who it is, but someone here has a link to their web page and shows how to run hydraulics off of the Vickers pump. If I can recall who it is, I will post the member's name. Pat

I believe everyone has a part of the answer. As I recall from a post by one of the dealers, both the relief valves AND the charge pump are different on the 7100/900 Series Sovereigns. The charge pump has larger volume to support the hydraulic lift.

Could very well be, Carl. The only difference I could see in the relief valves, was the spring. As to the charge pump, been going to check a parts manual to see if there was a difference but haven't done so yet. The one I did add the hydraulic lift to has been mowing for two years, and is just beginning it's second year with the snowblower. Seems to be working fine - so far. Pat

Kinda off topic, but been wantting to ask, are the rearends different for the sundstrand hydro and the Vickers? Thought in mind, could a sundstrand be bolted into a 3314 rearend? MPH

The reply I recall said that ALL replacement charge pumps were the new style. I checked because I was considering upgrading my 716H.

THanks, so how which valves would i have to replace? And also, where the filer goes, can i keep the old one or should i put the one on the side where it is on the 917?

Kirk, I finally recalled the name of the member who runs hydraulics off of his Vickers hydro. It is Karl Brandt. Here is a link to the page: http://www.simplicityva.com/winter/hydraulic.html Pat
