Simplicity 4212H - Wiring Diagram?

Guest

Recommended Posts

After running for awhile this tractor will not start once its shut off. Seems to be a wiring issue. It gets no spark and will not turn over. Seems like a safety switch must be preventing current from getting to the coil. Replaced the ignition switch last fall and all was well after that. I must have screwed something else up at the time. Any help would be apprciated.

I don't know about the 4212 but the 3212 has a safety switch to keep you from srarting the tractor in gear. It's located under the seat pan. I had this go bad on a 3212 and it opens the circuit to the starter. You say it will not turn over are you sure it has no spark at this point. I could start the 3212 if I put the jumper cables directly onto the starter/generator posts. Tim

Depending on which model Regent you have there are 2 or 3 safety switches. Make sure the battery and connections are good. Diagnose safetys by by-passing each one at a time until it cranks. Some models have a seat switch that must be activated before the engine will crank. Next have a look under the seat fender for the trans neutral microswitch located by the shift lever. Next try the PTO switch - especially if it is "push in ball" type. It is under the inner frame by the PTO handle - you may want to remove the mower to access it. Otherwise the problem is elsewhere.
