Boney Posted November 3, 2003 Posted November 3, 2003 When I start the 725 she blows blue/white smoke. She blows smoke until she gets warmed up. At this point there is minimal to no smoke. What are some of the things that I should be looking for to fix this ? Thank :)
RayS Posted November 3, 2003 Posted November 3, 2003 It maybe just from using the choke. Using the choke restricts the air flow causing you to use more gas. It may just be gas. I have a new engine and it does the same till I back off the choke. If it`s not using any oil I wouldn`t worry about it. RayS
samson Posted November 3, 2003 Posted November 3, 2003 Ditto on RayS reply Mine does the same thing but never uses oil.
rjgoth Posted November 3, 2003 Posted November 3, 2003 I have found this to be true also. Like Ray said, I wouldnt worry about it either. Blue smoke is normally an indication of oil burning. This is probally from residual oil on the cylinder wall that has run down and collected on the top of the piston, even being a small amount it will burn off. That is probally the source of the smoke. Having the choke on will also cause some smoke like Ray said. Did it just start doing this excessivly recently, or has it always done this? Ryan
maxtorman1234 Posted November 3, 2003 Posted November 3, 2003 My 712H used to do the same thing. For me, it was just a matter of adjusting the carb mixture.
fuzy Posted November 4, 2003 Posted November 4, 2003 Blue is typical of oil burning. It may be the small amount collected while not running like Ryan mentioned. Black would be more typical from leaving the choke on too long. John
Boney Posted November 4, 2003 Author Posted November 4, 2003 I have only had the tractor about 6 weeks and it has been like this since I got it. Thanks all for the great responses :)
