Found these Simplicity, Allis-Chalmers groups on Yahoo. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ACTRACTOR/ http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Simplicitytractor/ Posts are few and far between, and not much info. Also it seems the owners is no where to be found. as for this group, http://groups.yahoo.com/group/simplicitygardentractorclub/ Current members of this group, (referring to simpletractors) are referring some of the questions asked at yahoo over here. This just proves this is a great site. Thanks Kent for making it, and to all you members who make this club what it is. I will gladly pay the $10.00 for membership. :D

You couldn't have said it better. This club is administered very well, and the members are what makes this club great. The fact that this club is very active in the posts, keeps people interested and the friendly responses encourages people to ask questions. This is a great club! Kudos to all who make this possible.

Interesting... I guess imitation is "the sincerest form of flattery" like they say! Thanks for bringing this to my attention. It seems the first two were founded by a young man, Mike D'Amico (a member of this club) a couple years ago. Here's his profile in the clubhouse: http://www.simpletractors.com/club2/pop_profile.asp?mode=display&id=4241 I don't mind the "competition" but I don't really appreciate the fact that he "stole" pictures from Simple trACtors that I scanned in and cleaned up to use on his sites.... The last one has been around for a long time. It too was founded by a member of this club, Greg Arserio. Greg was a member here pretty early on, and rejoined last January. He's not very active here either: http://www.simpletractors.com/club2/pop_profile.asp?mode=display&id=4885 Greg also used a picture from Simple trACtors for his site when he started his Yahoo club, but removed it after I asked him to do so.... I think these people see all the things that Yahoo provides for free and think, "I can do this too", only to later realize (1) the limitations of Yahoo, (2) the dedication and work it takes to make one successful and grow it.... Been there, done that, got several t-shirts.... :D

I have crossed the line and will be picking up a IH 108 Cub today. I couldn't pass up the deal. So I try to find a club like this for the IH info. Nothing so far has been this quality. Thanks for the good work.

Kent, this site is so good that I dont' even bother looking for anything else.....

As far as I have been able to tell, from my personal serfing, this is the best site on the internet for friendliness, usability, information contained, and obtaining answers to questions. I have found no site in any area, covering any subject, that gets even close to this site.

I agree with Rod 100%. There are other sites I visit for woodworking info, hunting & dog training, but nothing comes close to the quality of this site in a technical sense. Thanks Kent, and thanks to all the members for the "family" feel to this place. I really look forward to my daily dose.

Well I must agree, i was pointed here buy Kent {so you can blame him for me being here lol j/k} and while most other boards seem to have haiters there are non here :) And to think before Kent showed me the way I almost bought a JD110......oh lord the thought of it lol lol j/k. I can honestly say if it werent for this club i would not have my little 725 and i would not be attempting to rebuild it and i enjoy every minute of it :) members fee of $10 ill pay it even if it means collecting cans for the 5 cents. :)

Well Kent, guess you could take the fact that others steel your work as an AttaBoy. They just ain't got the creative dedication you have put into this site and I thank you for it...No place like home..MPH

Kinda like Kevin Costner (though much better looking -- NOT!) dreamed: If you build it, they will come.... I was lucky enough to build the first one for Simplicity & ACs, and so far I haven't lost too many visitors, and you still keep coming, and hanging around... It's you folks, who come and share and interact, that make it successful, not me... I just built the place to meet and hang out.... The traffic and success continues to amaze me... for example, during the month of October: On average, 5,081 pages a day on Simple trACtors were viewed The Simple trACtors home page, alone, was viewed 23,382 times While in the clubhouse: 135,403 topics were viewed (4368 a day, on average) 12,373 classified ads were viewed (399 a day, on average) 5170 topics or replies were posted (168 a day, on average) 69 new folks registered Who'd a thunk it when we started with about 20 members five years ago? Which brings me to the point -- what kind of "celebration" do we have for our 5th anniversary on December 15th?

The one constant through all the years Kent, has been Simplicity. America has rolled by like an army of steam rollers. It has been erased like a blackboard, rebuilt and erased again. But Simplicity has marked the time. These tractors, these attachments, it's a part of our past, Kent. It reminds us of all that was once good and it could be again. Oooh,.. people will come, Kent....People will most definitely come. And the hits just keep on comin'....thanks to your great effort and idea, Kent, and all the fine people in this club.

Just for the heck of it, I decided to do a search on Yahoo last night for Simplicity & Allis Chalmers, and thought I let you know about them. First thing I thought when I saw the first two groups, was that Hey! They stole Kent's photos! I remember when this group was on Yahoo, and you mentioning that it was constantly running out of space. Then about January of 2000. I was looking for info on Kent's site for info on a Allis Chalmers rear engine rider that I had owned at the time, and I came looking for this site again, last May when I got my B-110. BTW, How long has this club been where it is now?

I'm with thedaddycat. I do not look anywhere else for AC & Simplicity. There is a Subaru club/forum that is very good (www.nasioc.com) but not quite up the level of SimpleTractors.

It moved off Yahoo about April 1999 or so, though I left the inactive site up there for while so peoplc could find there way to this domain name... Yahoo had just started their clubs (now called groups) whe we started in December 1998, and the software was very flaky... sometimes messages would disappear, sometimes you could post, sometimes not, and then there was the 5mb space limitations. First I tried putting the HTML pages on a 20mb free Tripod site (now part of GeoCities, I think), with it's constant popup ads, but outgrew that one too, so I registered the domain name, and rented server space and... it hasn't stopped yet.... Just some examples of size -- this place is a "pig." The whole shebang (Simple trACtors and the Clubhouse) is 850 mB now. There's 1507 HTML pages on Simple trACtors alone, and over 7,000 pictures (don't really know) -- I'm in the process of editing every single HTML page, right now. The database of topics and replies in the clubhouse (including archives) is now 150MB on a separate, special SQL Server, an not counted in the figures above. Last month we consumed 44GB of bandwidth with the traffic mentioned above. You don't get that much computer resources for free, regardless of how many annoying popup ads you'll put up with.... The next step will be a dedicated server of our own... but, hopefully that'll be a while since that's about $250 -300 a month.

I have to agree with everyone else. I don't think there is another club on the net anything like this club that I've seen. The fact that it's so easy to read and get around in to find things is what I like most. Of course the friendly atmosphere is a plus also.

When I bought my 17GTH-l I was really looking for a Cub or Wheel Horse since the guys around here restore and pull those brands. No one knew anything about Simp or A/C. The closest dealer had several used Simplicitys but no one there was into the older ones either. I saw the 17GTH-L and thought, thats a tractor! A check for $1100 and it was on the way home. I was on the yahoo group for a while but never found anything much there. Then someone mentioned this site and it has been great ever since. Since that first orange tractor I've added another orange and two yellow ones, plus several parts tractors and attachments. Without Simpletractors and the club it would all just be scrap iron. Thanks to Kent and to all you great club members! Larry
