New Vac System Hose....

I need to get a new hose for my vac system. I need to get the 6" discharge hose from the vac to the cart, as I'm adapting a much larger Craftsman cart to my 3310 V and vac. This shows it with the old Sears hose, but it was too UV embrittled(I'm guessing here, but it sat outside for years...) and kept cracking off. I even tried to heat it up and fit it, then let it cool to shape. No dice on that one, either...

I looked up new T-7 hose on ihozs.com and it only shows the 6" diameter T-7 hose in 12' or 25' lengths. Does anyone have about 4' of the 6" hose they'd be willing to sell? http://www.ihozs.com/applshow.cfm?ID=9&selcode=MH& Option #2 is that I buy a 12' length and then I'd have enough for two more sections of discharge hose available. Does anyone out there want to split costs either way??? If so you can email or PM me.... Thanks for any help either way!!

Kirk, I need a section myself. I had to "patch" my previously applied duct tape just this past weekend. I'll split the costs with you, if you want to buy a 12' section of the 6" hose. Kent

OK Kent, I'll order it today. Do you want any of the 7" diameter T-7 hose for a roving nozzle while I'm ordering? I plan on getting some but am sitll undecided about how long I'll get. I'm thinking the 25' length, the 12 footer just seems like you'd always be moving the tractor about 2-3' to get that extra reach you need..... If you want 4' then that leaves one more section available. Will that be long enough for you Kent?

Here is another little modification I made to the cart that is a vast improvement. These old wheelbarrow style tires leaked like all get out. I didn't have tubes and wanted bigger tires anyhow since you never know when you'll have to put rocks or firewood into one of these carts and want the higher capacity.... See how much better it looks already??? lol

Not to say that getting those tires, which are the 5.70/5.00-8 rears from a 1963 Broadmoor, mounted and seated was a snap. Even though I have a compressor now, it was being difficult. I tried the ratchet strap, then the wide strap, then BOTH straps.... no go, no go, and no go all the way around. Time to resort to the old timers' trick, starting fluid...

I pushed the tire away from the rim so the spray could get inside the tire, then let a little bit spray up the sidewall. Light the overspray on the sidewall and the flame follows the fluid into the air cavity inside the tire and.... Fooooommmmmmppp!!!!!! You now have a seated bead. Reed, if I'd known how easy and how well this worked I'd have demonstrated it at Colchester for you.... Dan, these are the tires I have if you want them for your project. Those two tires off the cart, and these ones. They are all mounted on 8" trailer rims with a four bolt pattern. The left one is the tire that blew out on my trailer, rim is a bit rough but can be easily banged back to shape. The other three are 4.80/4.00-8 trailer tires, the left one is bad(good rim) and the other two are good(though weathered) tires and rims. Let me know if you want them...

Kirk, I'd need to measure it to make sure, but I think 4' of the 6" would work. I'll pass on the 7" for a roving nozzle since I just have the kids blow out the leaves so I can ride the tractor... :D

Now that's a truly "roving" nozzle, even semi self-directed....

I've called them twice now today and still no call back from them. I'll order as soon as I get through to them.... In the mean time, I think we'll have one more section left of the 6" discharge hose if anyone else wants to get in on it.......

I'd be interested in a piece of the 6". Would that be a 4' lenght? I just got a 7117 with vac system (free from a guy at work) and it need some minor work. thx.

Hey daddycat, you sure that tire on the ledt isn't a result of too much starting fluid and the ensuing flames?!? LOL Stan

Dan, I have two of the 8 inch four lug trailer wheels if you need them in addition to the ones that Kirk is offering.

OK guys, so far I count four of us interested in the 6" hose. I will only have enough for three lengths of 4' each. If there is one more out there who wants one I will get the longer 25' section and make up six lengths of discharge hose. Anyone else interested?? OK, I finally got a call back and ended up ordering the 25' length of 6" hose. We'll all get enough and have some to spare. All those who wanted some hose please PM me with your details.

I called ihozs last week a few times and just got their answering machine. I needed a 3' piece of the T-7 hose to go from the deck to the blower. Emailed and asked if they would sell me just a 3' piece 'cause I didn't want to pay for and waste 2' from their 5' hose. The said no. I replied stating that I was not "razzled and dazzled" like their customer service page said I would be due to the great customer service. See it here: http://www.ihozs.com/custsvc.cfm Instead went to a local heating and air/sheetmetal shop and asked if they had any 7" duct or hose. The guy gave me a about a 5' piece of what looks like real heavy duty dryer vent hose for free out of their scrap pile. Don't think it would handle a rock or big sticks real well but works great on grass and leaves, and the price was right. Brent

I'm gonna hold off on the wheels and tires for now guys. Thanks for the offers. The tires are right but I'm gonna use front rims off B series so I can go with a straight axle I think. And by now I may have more than I need. LOL I might still be looking for tires later on though. I want 8 with the same tread pattern. thanks again.
