While changing oil, tires and spark plug before it should happen to snow here in the artic, I noticed one of my transmission plate bolts 'just looked' like it had some space between it and the plate, only about a turn and quarter, so checked 'em all, 4 others I got about quarter turn outta. Also check the left hub, mine had a little wobble again this year. Suppose These guys weren't ment to go through the woods and over the moss with a disk behind them??Hmmm, maybe I do need that Strut..MPH

That left hub can be a killer. My b12 is still down. Marty, tightening the set screws won't fix it if it is the old style hub. The damage is done to the hub. Change it. The axle is probably still good. I will never get to find out if my axle is still good because I cannot get the hub off. You might try having someone "remachine" the old hub my putting in a new key way and drilling and tapping a new whole for the "axle" set screw as opposed to the key set screw. A new hub is $65.00 or their about. I am going to wield mine as so as I get a round too it.

Dale, are you going to weld it to the axle?? If so, will you be able to get axle out if you have too??MPH

New style hubs are welded to the axle from the factory. Yes you can still remove the axle, but you have to remove the keys and lock rings on the diff side before you can pull it out. I have the entire late model limited slip setup installed in my 61 Wards.

Thanks Rod. When I get tired of shimming and tighting it twice a year maybe I'll just weld it on.It's become part of spring and fall tire change maintence..MPH
