Printing Simplicity PDF Files

Gang, The print quality I get from downloaded Simplicity Manuals with the Adobe PDF files is poor. Normally I get excellent print quality from MS Word. Is there a setting in Adobe I can change? Or, is the print quality from Simplicity PDF files naturally poor? Thanks,

I have been getting good print quality with all the simplicity pdf.s. I use the print preveiw and set the printer on text and image. Hope this helps

It depends on the files. Some of the pdf's are copies of very old paper or micro fiche manuals that simplicity has. The pdf's you guys see are pretty much the same versions we have in our dealer partsmart parts lookup system. Usually the prints we get are pretty good but we use a laser printer which helps. John

Hey Roy, I am sure this is nothing new, but just in case it might help, open your printer folder. Highlight the printer you are using. Right click on the printer and click on printing preferences. You should be able to select print quality and print speed from this menu. You may have to look around a little bit, but you can make a tremendous difference in the sharpness and quality of your prints by changing these settings. I have been pleased with what I could do with these settings so far in getting the lower resolution PDF files to print. My portable Canon does a better job than my big Execjet IIc Lexmark.

Don't have a clue how this worked, but when I printed the manual for my 3112, directly from the site, the quality was very poor. When I saved it to a CD and copied it off of the CD, it was clear as a bell. Pat

The PDF files are actually images of the original manual i,e, pictures. Some of those old manuals just didn't convert well going to the PDF format. I've had no problem achieving a good print out. Do as Dale suggests, check your printer properties. Remember, these are pictures. I use an HP T45 combo machine And set the printer to normal, and book style printing (both sides) It takes a little less than a minute per page (one side) When done printing the odd pages I re-insert the pages back in the tray and it prints the even ones. Sure does take time but, it saves paper and the result is a "real" manual. Steve

UCD, I have printed the Operator's Manual and the Parts Manual for a 7013S. Gang, I Know I can set the printer for a higher quality printout but don't think I should have to since everything else I print comes out excellent. Nevertheless, I'll try a higher quality setting. My printer is an HPdeskjet 960c. It does a great job normally. Thanks,

I printed that same manual out and it was sort of poor quality. I recently printed the Allis 700 series manual and it was horrible as far as the pictures go. But some other manuals have turned out good.

Printed a page from the Large Frame Repair Manual tonight. It came out beautiful! Apparently the problem with the other manuals I printed is with the original document quality the pdf files were made from. Thanks to all,
Posted
Roy, I haven't seen the "Large Frame Repair Manual" yet. I assume the AC720 falls into that catagory. Can you tell me the document number? john

John, I believe you're looking for the Repair Manual for Pow'r Max Series Tractors if you have an AC720. If so, you will find it here: http://www.simplicitytechpubs.com/6767PRINT/PDF_files/TP_500_504_00_LT_SA.pdf

John, What gregc said. The Large Frame Manual is for Sovereigns and those like it. Cheers,

OK, I get it: The AC720 doesn't measure up to the Sovereigns :D. I have the Powermax manual Greg mentioned. Thanks. I just thought I'd found a new source of information. I need all I can get. I'm a bit mechanically challenged :o). john

With PDF files, you are better off saving and then printing. The download speed does something with the print function. I do wish Simplicity had a CD they would sell with all the manuals on it.
