maxtorman1234 Posted November 9, 2003 Posted November 9, 2003 Our 917 wouldnt charge for about four months now. We got no reading when we tested the stator. I was going through the manual, and I discovered you have to test it in AC[:0]not DC. Tested it in AC, and bingo- 30 volts. The regulator was bad. Replaced it with the original that was on the 310, and now it charges great:D. Just one less problem to deal with in the winter:)
BigSix Posted November 9, 2003 Posted November 9, 2003 Congrats! I'm not familiar with your model tractor. When you say "stator," I assume this is some modern tractor, with a charging coil under the flywheel? I ask b/c I have a Starter/Gen that's not charging, but I assume this discussion (measuring in AC) has nothing to do with S/G's, which I believe are DC only....
maxtorman1234 Posted November 9, 2003 Author Posted November 9, 2003 Yes, it is about the newer ones with the stator under the flywheel. These tractors arent that modern though, one was made around 75' and the other mid 80's.
