ambler Posted November 10, 2003 Posted November 10, 2003 Temperature has dropped into low 20s the last two nights. I have picked up a two cases of Mobil 1 5-30 and 10-30. The briggs manuals actively recommend synthetic for all temperatures, what about running synthetic in the Kohlers? Case is $23 at Sam's club. I would like to run synthetic year round.
MPH Posted November 10, 2003 Posted November 10, 2003 I do, been 3 yrs in the B-112, which sat a long time before I got it and I have yet to open up the engine. Its using oil now pretty bad. I use Sams club mobil one 10-40..MPH
roma3112 Posted November 10, 2003 Posted November 10, 2003 ambler I have run synthetic in my 3112h for the last 2 years and have had no problems. I also run it in my sovereign with the kohler th18 v-twin and have had no problems , although she only has 25 hours on it :) Other than that I wouldnt worry. I would look to get the oil at somplace other than sams, have you seen the trouble they are in with I.N.S? (although this topic is best left to the cofee shop) :D good luck john
ambler Posted November 10, 2003 Author Posted November 10, 2003 I believe that was Walmarts cleaning crews. I get it from Sams because its $10/case cheaper than my parts store.
roma3112 Posted November 10, 2003 Posted November 10, 2003 Ambler dont blame you there ps nice job on the cart
sun41bird Posted November 10, 2003 Posted November 10, 2003 is 10-40 a replacement for hd30 witch is what kohler recomends for the m18 i have
JimC_Vt Posted November 10, 2003 Posted November 10, 2003 Try 10w30 or 5w30 if it gettings below zero a lot ... see ya Jim
SmilinSam Posted November 10, 2003 Posted November 10, 2003 Good post as I was about to ask if Mobil 1 10W30 was all right for Vanguard twins, single cast Briggs, and single Kohlers. I paid $27 for a case of Mobil 1 at Farm & Fleet.
ambler Posted November 10, 2003 Author Posted November 10, 2003 Briggs books say 10-30 synthetic is good year round, but change frequency stays the same. Kohler manual doesn't mention synthetics. I looked in K Series and Magnum twin that I have.
