This may sound funny to you all but something I have found to be true almost with out fail is this,,, If your having trouble with bolts loosening, Something is out of balance.. If this were my tractor, I would check every piece that turned from the engine to the BGB. A dent in a belt pulley can do the same. Good luck.. I found this out the hard way back in the early 80's. My Father in law had a new radiator installed on his big ford with a 351 small block. And soon after, he asked me to have a look at the AC on it that had quit working. I found about every other bold on the engine loose or missing. I tightened and or replaced as needed and a month or 2 later had the job to do over again. Well, I never was a fan of Fords. Plain didn't like the way they were thought out and I didn't like working on this one once much less "Licking a calf" on it. ( Having to re-do the job ) I started looking and noticed a small, fast vibration when it was running. After a good while I found that the fan had been replaced with one lock-washer out of 4 missing... Replaced it and never had trouble again.. So when deck bearings wore out to soon on a tractor I soon learned the same thing happens to them. A blade that is warped or out of balance will destroy the bearings in the arbor, A slight bend in a drive shaft will eat BGB bearings as fast as you can replace them.. just my point of veiw.. Good luck to you

I would check the drive shaft area. First start with the couplers and also look very closely at the yoke at the bgb. I have seen them come loose and begin to damage the yoke and shaft and get very sloppy causing the drive shaft to run out of balance. I have even seen some break the coupler and bend the drive shaft and take out other linkages and hydro lines in the process.

I have those bolts back on now, I had to take the engine out yesterday, and I removed the shield on the top. I discovered a bolt on the head came loose! I torqued them to 28 ft. pounds, and they still came loose. How can that happen?
