Simplicity snowblower is 36" blower. What does it fit It looks to me like some one took a 3 belt blower and added a right angle drive to it and modified the hitch to later style. Maybe with a coupler it could be run off from the front engine shaft.

I have no experience with other direct-drive attachments, I'm not sure how good that would work, personally. When the snowblower is on the ground, it would have that driveshaft at a fairly steep angle, running 3600 RPM.... That RPM on a shaft that has to bend at such an angle would seem to be a bit much.... how fast do the center PTOs spin for a shaft-drive mower-deck like the SunStars? I know the rear PTO is turning at 2000 RPM max. This front one would be spinning almost twice as fast -- unless they were using it on a gear-reduction engine....

I know next to nothing about older tractors and less than that on the newer ones. But would it be possible to use this as a rearmount blower?

The Old S series Ariens and New Holland tractors had center pto's. The shaft was directed through the center pivot for the front wheels. This would be the right height, but the mount doesn't appear that it will fit the Ariens tractor.

It seems to me that direct drive might cause some other problems.Wouldn't you want a bit of belt "slippage" in entering deep snow, versus having the engine start lugging?

If it were running shaft-drive off a center PTO with reduced speed, I can see it working OK, but not off the front PTO... The Gravely's also ran their front PTO up from the center, via a shaft, through the front axle, and they worked good...

That looks like a bolens set up to me.I remember looking at the blower bill had out for sale at the fall show. That is how the Bolens hooks up.

If you know who own this rig, let them know I have a parts three belt blower that I'll take the chain guard off for them. That thing looks like it's made to eat fingers.....
