Al Posted November 19, 2003 Posted November 19, 2003 Hi, Am wiped out tonight. A week ago Sat my wife had a couple of little happenings that turned out to be mini strokes. For about 6 weeks we have had Kohler rep scheduled in to do temp tests today. Tue went to Dr., Wed neck ultra sounds, 85 percent blockage right carotid. Thur to hospital for catheter, dye and ex rays. Fri night hauled the JD400 To Rec. Motorsports and did a trial run. Did not have pump enough to continuously load the Deere to level needed, brought Deere home. Made some changes in the duct work to address vibration under load. Mon. surgery, Tue afternoon, wife got to come home from ICU. My friend Scott of Rec Motorsports found me a used pump that JD had used for belt testing and hooked it to my dyno adapter. Tue night daughter came down and stayed with wife. I hauled John Deere to Cedar Rapids to Rec Motorsports to use the dyno, Connected all of the life support wires and back pressure hoses to the John Deere, and did a shake down run and left it there. This morning met 2 people from Kohler there and we started temp test. Computer croaked and would only read temp from one sensor, so we had to keep switching my 4 channel hand held to the 8 other sensors. By the end of the temp run the 40 gallons of oil in the dyno was at 275 degrees and we were wondering if we would have to stop and address the dyno cooling issue. Made it, we got the John Deere through temperature, and then connected the Simplicity Sun Star with the 25 hp kit up. Ran the dyno no load for about 25 minutes with fans on the tank and circulated the oil. Got it cooled down and at 5:20 finished the Sun Star run. Both tractor kits are now temp certified by Kohler. Finally! My wife is recovering better than expected and that is one heck of a load off of my mind. Tomorrow morning I will go over and bring the Sun Star and my dyno home and clean up my mess. Now I can get at the paperwork for these. How is this for a perfect week. My wife surgery 100% successful and accomplished before a major stroke which was inevitable. Both of our tractors made it through temperature and I still have 3 days left. I might mention, I told my wife I was going to cancel the temp testing when her thing started. She was adamat that I not cancel. She was right. I had a perfect week. Al Eden

HubbardRA Posted November 20, 2003 Posted November 20, 2003 I'm glad your wife is doing well. A friend had about 10 mini strokes before he went to a doctor and found out his cholesterol was around 700 and his triglycerides were nearly 900. Now on medication, and problems gone. I'm glad your wife acted on the signals that her bodw gave her. Too many people don't.
ambler Posted November 20, 2003 Posted November 20, 2003 Al, I'm glad she is OK. I know the worry drives you crazy on top of everything else.

Roy Posted November 20, 2003 Posted November 20, 2003 Al, What everyone said above. You lead an exciting, busy life. Only way to fly.
Al Posted November 20, 2003 Author Posted November 20, 2003 Hi, This isn't just a great site, Its like family. Thanks to all of you. Al This reminds me of a story. Two guys were playing golf when a funeral procession went by. One of the golfers stopped and held his hat to his heart in a moment of silence. The other golfer said: "That is nice of you to demonstrate this bit of respect for the dead". The other golfer replied: "Its the least I could do, its my wife and I am sure going to miss her". Seriously, my wife has been so tolerent, understanding and supportive through the years. For 18 years I held a full time day job and started the shop and grew it [for a period a few years back], to one of the three largest Simplicity dealers in Iowa. Then about 8 years ago, I retired to full time at the shop and slid back some. We are not quite 3 now, maybe 5th. We continued to grow, but others grew more. She had to be understanding to tolerate all of that. Now at 65 I am starting the Repower Company. She questions my sanity. I tell her that the reason she is recovering so fast is that living with me the last 28 years has toughened her up and kept her in shape. Really she is the best thing that has ever happened to me. Few women would tolerate me. Al
