HB-212 Vickers Transmission

Where is the leak coming from? My Vickers recently developed a leak at the ground speed control arm. There is an o-ring in there that may be worn. In addition, I understand that the holes through the pump housing (where the arm goes through) were bored at an incorrect angle at the Vickers factory. A tranny stop leak may attack the o-ring. This can cause the leak to worsen or cause the o-ring to leak if your leak is originating elsewhere. Then again, maybe not-you never know! Paul LaFiandra

The leak is were 2 of the parts mate. Its very slow like 2 drops/hr. I can live with it by checking the level at each days initial start. Its not getting worse. I had the tranny rebuilt a couple of years ago and I don't want to go through the removal plus shipping it to Michigan to get it fixed. So I was wondering if anyone had experiance with one of the additives. Rudy

I'd live with the leak and stick some old newspapers under the tractor to catch the drips. If the leak is primarily occurring when the tractor is running, 1-2 qts. of ATF/year is a small price to pay. My leak runs at about 1 qt./yr. and the repair on my tractor would be around $400.00. That means it would take me 400 years of tractor operation before I break even on the repair (with ATF at $1.00/qt.).

We installed an o-ring outside the pump shaft with a close fitting washer and hose clamp to hold it tight to the case.It works like a dream not so much as a drop leaks out of it! Total cost;about $2.50 for an o-ring washer and a hose clamp.Good Luck with it! dlc
