Less than 1k Big Ten questions

Rich, Yes the slotted holes are for mounting the hydraulic pump. I don't know how hard it is to find those pumps or if one off another brand would fit. It would be best if you could get the pump, cylinder, and the lift arm and componets off a parts tractor. The cylinder would be the easiest thing to substitute. The old B10 I am fixing up doesn't have hydraulics either. I may check with a Bolens friend to see if Bolens parts could fit. I already have a starter/generator off a Bolens on my B112. Tim

Hi all.
Found this club last month when looking for parts for a friends Sea..err, umm, tractor. Joined tonite when I brought home a Big Ten.

It came with no manuals and several missing parts. Serial# 045509. Motor has sticker that says made for Allis Chalmers by B&S, but I haven't found it's # yet.

First, the starter/generator. There are a couple with the machine, but they have a bendix kind of pulley that the walls of it squeeze together. That must be for starting only. Would it work as a generator too with right pulley? The engine shows no sign of ever having anything mounted where the pictures show it. Also the specs I found here says "Starter /Electric & manual". There is no pulleys with a slot, or place for recoil. How manual? Put it in gear and push?

There is a hole in firewall with three slotted adjustment holes. Mounting for hydraulic pump?

That covers most of my curiosities, now if I can find where someone had copies of manuals again, I can cut down on my questions in the future.

Thanks....Bruce

Bruce, Congrats on finding the Big Ten. To maual start it lift up the seat and there shouls be a place on the drive pulley to wrap a rope around. On Gen/starters, a DC motor and a geneator are basicly the same. Put a batrery across the termials and see if it will run as a motor. Get it pole correctly if you do. With the low gearing in the transaxle it is not easy on push start as the rear wheels will just slide. Find a Garden trator boneyard and get a bracket for the starter and a starter/generator if yours doesn't work. Good luck, Tim

Tim, Bruce had a good question about the plate with the three slotted holes mounted behind the motor,is that for a hydraulic pump and how hard are those pumps to find.(Thinking of converting to power lift?)

Just for curiosity sake, how much would those power lift parts run for. I might be interested.
