I have a 1980 16hp twin opposed cylinder on my racing lawnmower. It doesnt have the flanges for exhaust pipe, the pipe just screws in to the block. I was wonder if i could drill and tap to small holes above the bigger hole. This would be so i could attach regular automotive exhaust pipe with flanges.

Im wondering about this so i can change my pipes to regular exhaust pipe instead of threaded in House gasline

I dont see why not. The blocks are the same weather they were drilled and tapped at the factory or not. Just the obvious, dont go too deep and keep out the filings.......
