Icing up,

My 7117 Kohler K17T is icing up at the intake manifold. It doesn't have the hot air, air breather. Does anyone have the hot air-cold air breather for sale??? My idle is very erratic when it runs at higher rpm's. B):(!:(

Our KT17 was severely missing today, plug wires were all wet, just took some time for the water to evapourate. Should be due to replace them:D THeyre the originals

My 3212H used to ice up badly. There would be ice all over the carb & down the side of the engine freezing on the governor linkage causing me all kinds of problems. I used aluminum flashing to make a winter shroud that ran behind the muffler but around the carb and slipped one end behind a panel to hold the other end in place. It came up as high as the top of the air cleaner and almost as low as the top of the lower frame. It kept out windblown snow & allows the air to warm. No more problems since.

I too made a heat shield for my 7117 somewhat like callwill and had good luck, but I found a cold weather air cleaner off a wheelhorse on EBay a couple of years ago and it works better. Don

Can someone post a picture of a Kohler cold weather air cleaner? Do they look anything like the AQS model engines have on them? Dan

:(!:(!:(! I don't get it? My 3210 runs fine^,,, with no heat riser at all. the 7117 runs like sh*t. I've tried different carb settings and nothing seems to help. I NEED THAT HEAT RISER! :p:D8D

my snowblower just died today, i dont know what happened i got it all fired up and it was just barely pulling itself and then i turned the auger on and it just died. I think maybe the carb has iced over

My 917 is doing the same thing, if I keep the throttle wide open and try to keep the snow from coming back on the tractor it doesn't run too bad...:p

Well I have the Same problem with my B112 and I have been thinking of building a guard for the carb. myself...

All my singles run fine, after use, but the 917 wont idle right at all. It quit a few times just idling.

Only problem I have with my 9hp Landlord is the governor freezing and makes it run to fast...I fixed it by spraying WD-40 all around the shaft...

I have a 5hp Yardman walk-behind, 2 stage blower that is a ROCK--it always starts, always runs, req. only occasional belt adj. or a new belt. Last storm it had repeated stalling. I figured out the slush on the head and tank was shorting out the plug, intermittently, so that it would stop so quick you couldn't believe that was it. But after scraping the slush away, it ran fine, and fine again, today for 5 hrs. straight. It didn't take all that much slush to do it, either, so I would check your coil areas (on the 2 cylinders) and all engines where the slush can sit, like on a "winter shrouded" flat head eninge (fins are covered by tinwork). Just my .02

Does anyone have the instructions for installing the winter sheild on the Briggs 16's single cylinder? I have the plate but can't seem to find the bolts or holes to line up with the sheild to bolt it up. I have a 7116. If you could email me the instruction sheet that comes with the heat sheild I would appreciate it. Thanks

There was a winterizing kit for sale on ebay the fellow had a few for 7000's neat neat kit. I bought one for the 4-6000 series. The alum flashing would work as well as other ideas here. UCD and others will get you there Mark. The covered, vented gas cap is worth the price of admission.
